Do not love the world

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.

1 John 2:15-16 NIV

We have to make a choice.  We either stand alongside Jesus Christ and only pursue God’s kingdom or we choose to follow the world and live according to the world’s standards.  It is impossible to claim to follow Jesus Christ yet live according to the standards and values of the world.  The world we live in is in contradiction to God’s kingdom and His ways.

Jesus came to the earth to save sinners from themselves.  All of us are born into sin and we are not capable of saving ourselves or doing enough good works to earn righteousness before the Lord.  But Jesus came to give His life and fulfill the law so that anyone who would put their faith and trust in Him would be declared as righteous and be able to draw near to the Lord without hindrance.

The Lord is using all things upon the earth to separate a people to Himself.  As we continue to move forward the difference between the world and following Jesus Christ will continue to widen.  We have nothing to fear during these times because the Lord will strengthen us for every challenge and trial.  The truth is that persecution will continue to increase, but when we exam God’s word we see that persecution actually strengthens the church instead of weakening the church.

The world and its ways are simply based upon the lies and deceptions of Satan.  Satan is the god of this age who has blinded the hearts and minds of so many.  All of us are born into sin and those who choose to reject Jesus Christ will spend an eternity separated from God.  As God’s sons and daughters let us go boldly before His throne each day and intercede that the hearts of many will be open to the gospel message.

Heavenly Father today I pray that you would give me the strength and boldness to stand for you and your kingdom.  I pray that my life would be a light in a very dark world and that the hearts of many would have eyes to see and ears to hear.  I pray Father your will be done in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
