Let the [spoken] word of Christ have its home within you [dwelling in your heart and mind—permeating every aspect of your being] as you teach [spiritual things] and admonish and train one another with all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
The word of the Lord must dwell deep within our hearts. This only happens as we fellowship with the Lord and spend time not only reading His word, but meditating upon His word. When we meditate upon God’s word His word is written upon the depths of our hearts. When His word is written upon the depths of our heart, the Holy Spirit will transform us from the inside out.
This Christian journey is all about intimate fellowship with the Lord. He has created us for relationship. As we draw near to Him we are simply changed. The whole reason that Jesus went to the cross is that the very thing that separated us from the Father would be removed. When we place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ the sin that kept us from drawing near to the Lord was removed and washed away by the blood of Jesus.
