10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10.
12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Daywill bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames. 1 Corinthians 3:12-15.
15 “He was made king, however, and returned home. Then he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it.16 “The first one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned ten more.’ 17 “‘Well done, my good servant!’ his master replied. ‘Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.’ 18 “The second came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned five more.’ 19 “His master answered, ‘You take charge of five cities.’ 20 “Then another servant came and said, ‘Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid away in a piece of cloth. 21 I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.’ 22 “His master replied, ‘I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow? 23 Why then didn’t you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could have collected it with interest?’ 24 “Then he said to those standing by, ‘Take his mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.’ 25 “‘Sir,’ they said, ‘he already has ten!’ 26 “He replied, ‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away. 27 But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me.’” Luke 19:15-27.
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them.12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the deadthat were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15.
As I was doing the dishes this morning the Lord began to speak to me about the judgment seat of Christ. So as He began to speak to me I felt led to write here all that He shared with me. There are many in the body of Christ who are simply ignorant of God’s word. Part of this is do to the lack of sound biblical teaching taking place in churches, the other side of it is people because of the comfortableness of their lives fail to search the depths of God’s scriptures.
There are two judgments that shall take place. One is the judgment seat of Christ which will be for all believers in Jesus Christ. We shall stand before the Lord and give an account of our faithfulness with the gifts that we have been given. The Lord has given all of us gifts and talents and we will be responsible for how we used those gifts and talents while we were on this earth. We will not be judged for our sins because our sins no longer remain, but what we will be judged for is how faithful we were as servants of the Lord upon the earth.
The other judgement that shall take place is called the white throne judgement. This is for all those who rejected Jesus Christ and their names were not found in the Lamb’s book of life. There is a serious price to be paid for failing to receive Jesus as Savior. Those who reject the Lordship of Jesus Christ shall spend an eternity separated from God in the lake of fire. Where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Many today go about their lives as if there are no consequences to their actions. In their pride they don’t believe they are in need of a Savior. All of us are in need of a Savior because all of us have been born into sin.
So as believers in Christ we are called to be wise stewards of all that Lord has entrusted us with. We are called to use our lives to bring glory and honor to the name of Jesus. The Lord has given us life and it is a gift. We are not called to use our gifts and talents to fulfill our own selfish desires. We are called to use the gifts and talents God has given us to advance His kingdom.
There will indeed be rewards in Heaven. Entrance to God’s kingdom is simply based upon faith in Jesus Christ, it is not based works because if it was humanity would have something to boast about. But we will be rewarded for our faithfulness to the Lord. What those rewards will look like will be revealed in Heaven. But from Jesus parable one thing is true is that our faithfulness on this earth will be a direct result of all that we will be entrusted with when we rule and reign with the Lord in His kingdom.
