The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2 who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. Revelation 1:1-3
The book of Revelation is an entire vision that the apostle John was given. It is incredible in its length and would be overwhelming to receive as it spoke of all that was to come concerning the body of Christ and the world. This revelation was given to John by an angel and it was the Lord Him who came and spoke to John at different instances.
It is important to understand when John received this revelation that he was on the island of Patmos because of his testimony of Jesus Christ. He was exiled by the Roman Emperor of the time and when we study the island of Patmos we come to understand it was a very difficult place to survive.
But it is interesting when we examine scripture that some of the greatest revelations received by individuals were received at very difficult times in life. When the apostle John was persecuted the greatest is when he received the greatest revelation that revealed all that was to come to pass.
Throughout the book of revelation we are told that the time is near. Now this was written almost over 2000 years ago. So at that time if the Lord told John that the time was near, how much more today is that day ever nearer. But so many in the body of Christ are ignorant of the book of Revelation and fail to take the time to thoroughly study it.
We are told that those who read this aloud and those who hear will be blessed. As the body of Christ we need to wake up. We need to live according to scripture. We need to stop playing games and need to start taking responsibility for our walk with God. We need to plant seeds as the Lord opens the door and we need to walk in obedience and sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit. The day and hour of the return of the Lord comes quickly. It is time to awake and arise.
