You who love the Lord

You who love the Lord, hate evil; He protects the souls of His godly ones (believers), He rescues them from the hand of the wicked.

Psalm 97:10 AMP

The Lord is our defender and our protector.  We need to always remember that the battle belongs unto Him.  In this world we will face trials and tribulations on a daily basis.  But what allows us to walk in victory in all things is keeping our eyes firmly placed upon Jesus Christ and His kingdom.  When we live daily in the knowledge that this world is not our home we will not be overcome by the trials we face.

Those who believe this world is their home become despondent and distraught when tragedy strikes their lives.  But the honest truth is that a decision to follow Jesus Christ will bring trial and challenges into our lives.  The Lord even told us in this world we would have trouble but to fear not He has overcome the world.

I have often heard people ask the question: why do bad things happen to good people?  The honest truth is that we face trials and challenges in our lives because it stretches and grows our faith.  I actually hate when people ask this question because following Jesus is not about being good.  Following Jesus is about simply drawing near to the Lord and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us from the inside out.

When we draw near to the Lord the enemy will naturally attack us in our lives and try to discourage and paralyze us from drawing near to the Lord.  But what He fails to understand is that God uses every attack of the enemy to strengthen us and grow us.  We need to understand that God is fully in control.  Satan never does anything outside the sovereign will of God.  Satan is only allowed to do what God allows him to do.  He has no authority and he is simply defeated.

Let us focus our hearts daily upon Jesus and His love for us.  In the midst of every trial and tribulation let us stand firmly upon the Lord and His word.  His love never fails and He is always faithful to His word and promises.  Know that you are not alone this day but all of us are facing something in our lives that God is using to grow us.  Be strong in the Lord and the power of His mighty.  The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.
