1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:1-2.
What is the shelter of the Most High. To truly understand this Psalm and what David was writing about we need to understand what the shelter of the Most High is. David was a man of God’s presence. He drew near to the Lord often and spent His life writing worship songs unto the Lord. He loved the Lord’s presence and though David was not perfect, he served the Lord with his whole heart.
The shelter of the Most High is simply the Lord’s presence. When we become a person of God’s presence where we simply hunger and thirst to draw near to the Lord we come to understand that no matter what we face on this earth that the Lord will strengthen us and lead us. The mistake many make in their relationship with God is that they allow things that have no eternal value to take the place that Jesus deserves.
The Lord is simply seeking the earth for a people who will hunger and thirst for Him more than life itself. Our time on this earth is very short and we have the awesome opportunity to use our lives to worship and glorify Jesus Christ in all things. The Lord is our refuge and our fortress and yes in this life we will face attacks from the enemy. But we must remember that the enemy is already defeated and has no authority or power. God will always use what the enemy has meant for wickedness for our good.
Today if you find yourself overwhelmed by doubt, worry, and fear I would encourage you to simply draw near to the Lord. Simply get alone with Him and pour out your heart unto Him. Spend time simply worshiping His name and enjoying His presence. Allow Him to strengthen you and to open your eyes and your heart to the deep things of His kingdom. He is simply seeking those who are hungry. May we be willing to say yes Lord send me.
