4 Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. 5 John baptized with[b] water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 1:4-5
On the day of Pentecost[a] all the believers were meeting together in one place. 2 Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.3 Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. 4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages,[b] as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. Acts 2:1-4
17 ‘In the last days,’ God says,
‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your young men will see visions,
and your old men will dream dreams.
18 In those days I will pour out my Spirit
even on my servants—men and women alike—
and they will prophesy.
19 And I will cause wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below—
blood and fire and clouds of smoke.
20 The sun will become dark,
and the moon will turn blood red
before that great and glorious day of the Lord arrives.
21 But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord
will be saved. Acts 2:17-21
As I was driving today the Holy Spirit began to speak to my heart about an awakening that is coming. God throughout the earth is open the minds and hearts of His sons and daughters to the power and fullness of the Holy Spirit. For too long God’s people have tried to accomplish the purposes of Heaven without the power of the Holy Spirit. We have treated the Holy Spirit like an unwanted guest.
But it is the Holy Spirit who empowered the first century church to move in power and display God’s glory. Throughout history there have been different awakenings along the way but we are coming into a time of a sustained awakening in the hearts of God’s people that will take place world wide and will exist until the return of the Lord for His bride.
For us to see the harvest before us come in it is going to require the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is going to require us to humble ourselves before the Lord, repent of our ways, and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. It has been a disgrace the way the Holy Spirit has been treated in the body of Christ. Now there are parts of the world that are moving in the power of the Holy Spirit and much of this is because of the intense persecution that they face. When you are in a fox hole and your life is on the line you don’t question things, you simply follow. Because we have lived in comfort we have rejected the power of the Holy Spirit because we have desired to be in control.
But a new day is coming to the church in which the Lord shall display His glory through the lives of His people. The signs, miracles, and wonders we have read about of the past will become a reality in our day. But again this will only take place as we yield to the work of the Holy Spirit.
God has longed for a generation of people who will simply yield themselves to His will. This generation is now becoming a reality as the Lord quietly works in the hearts of so many revealing who He is and the deep things of His kingdom. So many have been prepared in the secret place and when the times come they will be revealed for who they are. They have felt out of place at times, but we are entering into a time when all the preparation will finally make sense.
The bottom line is obedience. When we examine the life of Jesus we see that the reason He moved in power was because of His obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Yes He indeed is the Son of God but when He came to earth the first time He emptied Himself of all His glory and lived a life as a man. He became fully man and daily relied upon the leading of the Holy Spirit. This is why He told the disciples they would not only do the same things He did, but greater things.
This day if you have ears to hear, eyes to see, and a heart to understand simply draw near to Jesus. Allow the Holy Spirit to prepare and use you during the greatest time in history. The return of the Lord is very soon and the trumpet shall soon sound. Let us simply be willing and let us simply be willing to walk in obedience.
