11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. Ephesians 6:11
As believers in Christ we are at war. We are at war with an unseen enemy. Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but our battle is against Satan and all the demonic angels that serve him. But the key is to understand that they are already defeated and we have the authority through the blood of Jesus alone. We are commanded in scripture to put on the full armor of God.
The pieces of God’s armor include truth, faith, righteousness, salvation, peace, God’s word, and praying in the Spirit on all occasions. We must put all of these on on a daily basis. We cannot just put on one piece or a few, but we must cloth ourselves in Jesus Christ. We are called to abide in the Lord on a daily basis and seek His face. We are called to draw near with our whole heart.
In the end the battle belongs to the Lord alone and when we try to face the enemy without abiding in the Lord we will fall flat on our face. The enemy is defeated but he will try to deceive us and overwhelm us to think that he is some all powerful being that is unstoppable. But the truth is that Satan is nothing more than a mouth. He no longer has power or authority and is simply a silver tongued snake. It is vital that we use all the tools that God has given us and this includes praying in the Spirit. So many Christians are ignorant of praying in the Spirit because they are ignorant of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. We will only understand the deep things of the Spirit as we open our hearts to the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
