Through love and faithfulness

Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for;
    through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided.  Proverbs 16:6

For us to draw near to the Lord and walk in holiness we need to understand the grace, love, and mercy of God.  When we understand God’s love for us we will simply desire to walk in obedience.  The reason many struggle in their relationship with God is because they don’t understand His grace nor His love.

Much of this is due to the fact that many people today come from a place in which they either had an absent father or an abusive father.  Because of the earthly relationship with their father, they struggle to develop and understand what a relationship with their heavenly Father should look like.

But it is also the fear of the Lord that will keep us from the ways of the world.  When the bible speaks of the fear of the Lord it speaks of a holy reverence of who God is.  When we have the fear of the Lord we simply understand that God is God and because He is God, He alone is worthy to be praised.  In walking in the fear of the Lord we will desire to honor the Lord and His word and walked in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Every day that we wake up we have two choices.  We can either seek after the world and the lust of the flesh, or we can seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness.  Seeking first God’s kingdom is simply following the leading of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit desires to fellowship with us and teach us throughout the course of each day.  As we draw near to Him, we come to discern and understand His leading and His voice.
