9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.
10 As it is written:
“There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one.”[b]
13 “Their throat is an open tomb;
With their tongues they have practiced deceit”; [c]
“The poison of asps is under their lips”; [d]
14 “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.”[e]
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways;
17 And the way of peace they have not known.”[f]
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”[g]
19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:9-20.
Every person born on the earth is born into sin and all are in need of a savior. Whether someone is a Jew or is a gentile all are in need of a savior. The purpose of the law is to reveal the need of a savior. It is impossible to keep the law of God because if we break even one jot or tittle of the law we become a law breaker.
The Jews believed they were above the gentiles because they had the law, but the law in fact cannot bring salvation, the only purpose of the law is to reveal the righteousness of God and man’s need for a savior.
Our hope is found alone in Jesus Christ. It is through faith alone that we are saved and it is through faith alone that we are declared righteous before God. Because of our faith in Jesus Christ we are able to go before the throne of grace with confidence and pour our hearts out to the Lord.
Every religious system in the world outside of Christianity requires man to do things to earn their salvation. But what sets Christianity apart from the other religions of the world is that in Christianity the Living God reached down to man and made a way of salvation not based upon the works of man, but based upon the grace and mercy of God. It is through Jesus Christ that we find grace, love, and mercy from the Lord. The Lord loved us and lay down His life long before we were sinners.
He knew that when He created Adam and Eve that they would fail and fall into sin. In the garden of Eden they were only told to abstain from one thing and that was from partaking of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But they in fact believed the lie of Satan over the truth of God and partook of the tree and in so doing they sinned and were separated from God.
But through Jesus Christ all has been redeemed. The relationship that was lost in the garden of Eden with the Lord is redeemed and we can once again walk in intimacy with the Lord in every area of our lives. Let us focus our hearts each day upon Jesus and all that He has done. Let us focus our hearts upon the finished work of Calvary and know that the Lord is fully in control. There is nothing that can separate us from His love. So let us draw near each day with all that is within us.
