1 Why do the nations conspire[a]
and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth rise up
and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break their chains
and throw off their shackles.”
4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
5 He rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6 “I have installed my king
on Zion, my holy mountain.”
7 I will proclaim the Lord’s decree:
He said to me, “You are my son;
today I have become your father.
8 Ask me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You will break them with a rod of iron[b];
you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”
10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear
and celebrate his rule with trembling.
12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry
and your way will lead to your destruction,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him. Psalms 2
This Psalm speaks of the coming King Jesus Christ who shall rule the earth with a rod of iron. Jesus is the Son of God and it is God the Father who will make Jesus King of all the earth. Men in their pride are very foolish in their thinking that they can oppose the Living God. They look at themselves and they believe themselves to be strong and powerful. But next to the Lord they are nothing. With a single word from His mouth He can destroy them. But the Lord is patient and He is king and merciful and has given people time to repent of their wicked ways.
But we who are in Christ have nothing to fear in this hour. Yes when we look at the things around us it seems as if things are spiraling out of control and that darkness is clearly taking over. But this is not the case. The Lord is fully in control and He is going to use the difficulties of the times ahead to bring many to Himself. We currently live in a world that is comfortable in certain parts of the world and for those in comfort to be moved to the place of salvation, they must have that comfort removed.
The Lord is aligning every piece that corresponds with His plans and purposes. Every prophecy set forth in God’s word for the church and the nation of Israel shall come to pass. It shall come to pass because it is the Lord who will bring it to pass. As His sons and daughters we are called to be diligent in the place of prayer and the study of His word. We are called to focus our hearts upon Him and know that He is bringing forth His will. Today if you hear the voice of the Good Shepherd do not harden your heart. Draw near to the Lord and the power of His might. Open your heart and allow the Holy Spirit to fill you to overflowing. Desire the greater spiritual gifts and never be satisfied but simply continue to hunger after the Lord’s presence and simply get lost in His love.
