For I say, through the grace given to me

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we,being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.  Romans 12:3-8

We should never think of ourselves more highly then we are.  All of us who are part of the body of Christ are saved by the grace and mercy of God.  We have done nothing to earn salvation and it was the Lord who drew us to Himself.  Within the body of Christ all of us have specific gifts that have been given to us by the Holy Spirit.  We are called to operate in the gifts we have been given and not hide them under a blanket.

Many fail to understand what their gifts are through the Holy Spirit because it fails to be taught in many churches.  Churches across the United States focus message after message on Jesus Christ which it should.  But there is a third person of the trinity who is often ignored and not welcomed in many churches.  Churches are comfortable with Jesus because they focus on His love for us, but they are afraid of the Holy Spirit because they desire to be the ones who are in control.

We are not called to fear spiritual gifts and we are told not to be ignorant.  We are actually called to desire the greater spiritual gifts and those who are hungry for the Lord and His presence will in time move in the power of the Holy Spirit.  Our desires to draw near to God should never be selfish at its foundation.  If we simply desire to draw near to God to make a name for ourselves then we are pursuing Him for very selfish reasons.  But if we desire to know the depths of His heart because we simply desire to know Him, we will as a result move in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Those who are sensitive and obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit will move in the power of God.  Many today in America are ignorant of many of the biblical truths concerning the Holy Spirit because frankly it is not taught or preached about.  People desire comfortable churches where they can simply come in and be loved and they resemble more of a social club instead of a house of prayer.

If our desire is to see the Holy Spirit move in our midst then we must be obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit.  We must be willing to give control of our churches and our services over to the leading of the Holy Spirit.  When we honor the Holy Spirit we open the door for the power of God to move in our midst.  The reason many churches simply have a form of godliness but deny the power of God is simply either out of ignorance or out of fear.  Let us simply step aside and allow the Holy Spirit to have His way.
