6 These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be [written] on your heart and mind. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your [b]children [impressing God’s precepts on their minds and penetrating their hearts with His truths] and shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7
We have a incredible responsibility to diligently teach our children the word of God. When we have children, we are called to be wise stewards of the children the Lord has blessed us with. It is by the hand of God alone that we have children because He is the author of life. We are called on a daily basis to spend time with our children in God’s word. This needs to begin when they are very young and be done in a away that they can understand and receive.
But as we continue to pour God’s word into their lives throughout the course of their lives it sets the foundation for them to be used greatly by God upon the earth. Those who know and understand the truth of God’s word naturally walk in the freedom and authority that Jesus has purchased for us through Calvary. But if we fail to instill within the children God has given us His word and His truth, they in time will be overtaken and deceived by the lies of the enemy.
The world we live in is a cruel and dark place. It is filled with incredible deception and it only continues to grow by the day. We cannot physically protect a child from every danger they will face. But we have the ability each day when we spend time with them to pour God’s word into them. We have the ability to intercede daily for our children. We fail to understand the full power of intercession and often when we don’t feel anything happening or see anything happening, we think that prayer isn’t accomplishing anything. But every time we pray the warring and ministering angels of Heaven are mobilized. When we make prayer the priority of our lives the peace and presence of God will fill our homes.
Be willing to commit to pour God’s word into the lives of your children. Be willing to make prayer and God’s word the foundation of your family. Yes we face an enemy who is bent on death and destruction, but we must remember that when we are in Christ he has no power or authority against us. The only time Satan is allowed to have in roads into our lives is when we become very lazy in our pursuit of God. We must pursue and seek the Lord diligently every day and never forget that every moment we are at war. Let us not take things lightly, but let us pursue the Lord with all that is within us.
