Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:1-2.
If we truly desire the blessing of God poured out upon our life then it requires that we delight and walk in obedience to God’s word. Many today desire to follow Christ and still live for the world and its ways. It is not biblical to follow Jesus Christ and indulge the lust of the flesh. We live in a time in history when the gospel message has been compromised and softened so that large churches can be built because that’s what many consider success in ministry.
But it is through obedience alone that we find the blessing of the Lord poured out upon our lives. He will never bless us if we walk in disobedience because if we were then our Heavenly Father would only be encouraging the decisions we make. But because our Father loves us He will discipline us if we continue to choose to walk in disobedience. God’s grace is His unmerited favor upon our lives, but it doesn’t mean it absolves us of walking in obedience. His grace is applied to our lives when our faith is placed in Christ and it enables us for all things. That includes walking in obedience.
