1 Keep me safe, O God,
for I have come to you for refuge.
2 I said to the Lord, “You are my Master!
Every good thing I have comes from you.”
3 The godly people in the land
are my true heroes!
I take pleasure in them!
4 Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods.
I will not take part in their sacrifices of blood
or even speak the names of their gods.
5 Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing.
You guard all that is mine.
6 The land you have given me is a pleasant land.
What a wonderful inheritance!
7 I will bless the Lord who guides me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I know the Lord is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
9 No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice.
My body rests in safety.
10 For you will not leave my soul among the dead
or allow your holy one to rot in the grave.
11 You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of your presence
and the pleasures of living with you forever. Psalm 16
The Lord is our refuge, we have nothing to fear. When we trust in the Lord with all our heart, His grace and His mercy covers us. No matter what we face He will work all things together for our good. Many times when we are facing a trial or challenged we can feel overwhelmed because the enemy is trying to crush and destroy us. But what Satan fails to understand in his arrogance is that God will use every attack of his for our good and for God’s glory.
The battle we face belongs to the Lord. We have the right to cry out to the Lord that His justice and righteousness be poured out. We need to start viewing prayer as a war cry. The Lord is a mighty warrior and He is the commander of Heavens armies. He holds all things in His hand and He waits for His sons and daughters to call upon Him in their time of trouble.
The Lord has designed things upon the earth in such a way that He will not invade the earth and move in a situation until His sons and daughters cry out to Him. Many times when we are overwhelmed we feel like God has abandoned us and many times instead of running to the Lord, we instead feel like becoming bitter towards the Lord and moving away from Him.
But all of these are lies and deceptions of the enemy. The Lord has called us to draw near with confidence because the moment we begin to pray the armies of Heaven are engaged. Let us have eyes to see and ears to hear. Let us understand the power and importance of prayer. Our Father desires to move mightily upon our behalf and pour out His justice and His righteousness. Let us simply bring all things before Him in prayer and leave it all in His hands. The battle belongs to Him and the Lord is a mighty warrior.
