“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”Galatians 5:1 NIV
We have been set free by the blood of Jesus. The day Jesus died upon the cross and rose again three days later is the day that the curse of sin and death was broken. God’s desire is that all would come to salvation and the gift of salvation is open to any who would bow their knee to Jesus and make Him Lord.
Paul here when he talks about being in bondage to a yoke of slavery, he is speaking of those who would try to gain righteousness through following the law. Jesus through His sinless life fulfilled the requirements of the law. When He laid His life down He became the sacrifice for any who would put their trust in Him.
We are not saved by our works or our performance. We are saved by faith alone in Jesus Christ. It is by the grace of God so none can boast. Let us walk daily in the freedom we have and draw near to the Lord. Let us be transformed into His image and become the sons and daughters He has called us to be.
