The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
When God’s word speaks of the fear of the Lord it is not speaking of fear as if we are going to be punished. The fear of the Lord is holy reverence for who He is. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He holds all things in His hands and is worthy to be praised. In His grace and mercy He has sent His Son Jesus to die in our place. He rightly deserves our worship because it is Him who holds our very life in His hands.
There are many today who have no relationship with God or even believe in Him. They truly believe they are in control of their own destiny. Over the course of a person’s life the Lord continually knocks on the door of their heart and tries to get their attention. But in the end their desire to follow Him is one of their own freewill. May we be the living sacrifice that God has called us to be. May we pursue Him with our whole hearts and remove every idol and hindrance from our lives. He is coming soon and until that day let us pursue and prepare for His return.
