He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief corner stone.

10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that [g]by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—[h]by [i]this name this man stands here before you in good health. 11 [j]He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief corner stone. 12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”  Acts 4:10-12

The man Peter is referring to is the cripple who sat at the temple called beautiful.  Peter had healed the man by the power of the Holy Spirit and it was done in the name of Jesus.  It is at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, Jesus holds ultimate authority and sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for us daily.  It is through Jesus that we have authority.  The authority we have is not found in ourselves, the authority we have is because of what Jesus accomplished at Calvary.  Through faith alone we have authority and we must operate with this authority on a daily basis in every area of our lives.

Jesus is the cornerstone.  It is upon Him alone that the body of Christ is built.  Through faith in Jesus we become part of the body and the bride of Christ.  Jesus was rejected by the religious leaders and the people of His day.  Many today still reject Jesus because they would rather chase effort the selfish and empty desires of this world.  Though the things of sin may satisfy for a moment, in the end they will simply lead to destruction.

It is through Christ alone that salvation is found.  Many in the world claim that there are many ways to God, but the truth is there is only one way unto God.  Jesus said that He alone was the way, the truth, and the life, that no one comes to the Father except through Jesus.  The road to life is narrow and few will walk upon it, but the road that leads to destruction is broad and many will walk upon it.  We should never be ashamed of the truth of the gospel and it doesn’t make us intolerant or hateful that we proclaim Jesus is the only way.  It is the truth of God’s word and those who stand against the truth of God’s word are simply unbelievers who are lost without the true shepherd.  Let us not become angry at those who stand against us, but let us simply intercede that their hearts would be softened and opened to the truth.
