3 When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come[b].” 4 And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him. Revelation 6:3-4
When Jesus breaks the second seal peace is taken from the earth. The time of the seven year tribulation will be a time of utter lawlessness. We have begun to see the birth pangs of this now as we see different parts of the world it seems as if lawlessness rules. But there is still a measure of peace and order in the world.
The reason this is is because of the work of the Holy Spirit through the body of Christ. Until every plan and purpose of God is complete upon in the earth in the body of Christ we will remain here upon the earth until the Lord calls us home. We should never spend our time trying to figure out who the anti-Christ is or what day the Lord shall return for us.
Our attitude must be one of daily expectation of the Lord’s return we must be busy about the work of God’s kingdom, seeing His kingdom advance upon the earth and the gospel going forth into the utter parts of the earth. The Lord is not calling us to sit idly by while we wait for His return. He is calling us to abide in Him and be led by the Holy Spirit in all things.
The color red of the horse represents a time of intensity upon the earth unlike the world has never seen. There is coming a day when the judgment of Almighty God shall be poured forth upon the earth for the wickedness of humanity. The Lord daily knocks upon hearts and His word goes forth because His desire is that all would come to salvation. But sadly many simply desire to seek after the emptiness of this world.
When peace is removed from the earth humanity will turn upon itself. The tribulation will be a seven year period in which people will give their allegiance to the anti-Christ. But it isn’t until the last three and a half years of the seven year tribulation that the great tribulation begins. All that we see know is preparing people’s hearts for that coming day. Those who fully give their hearts unto the Lord are being prepared for His return. But those who reject Him and seek after the things of darkness are being lulled to sleep by the wickedness of the day. May we be obedient to share the gospel as the Holy Spirit leads us.
