21 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, 22 who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; 23 [w]and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 and He Himself [x]bore our sins in His body on the [y]cross, so that we might die to [z]sin and live to righteousness; for by His [aa]wounds you were healed. 25 For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and [ab]Guardian of your souls. 1 Peter 2:21-25
Jesus has left us an example of how we are too live our lives. He never sinned or committed any wrong yet He was hated by many and in the end gave His life so that we would be free. In this world we will be persecuted and we will be hated. We must remember that Satan has blinded the minds and hearts of those who live in this world. He has blinded them and many who are lost see Jesus as the enemy. The fail to understand His love, grace, and mercy.
Jesus said that broad is the road that leads to destruction and many will find it, narrow is the road that leads to life and few will find it. The said truth is when we preach the gospel in its purity it will be rejected by many. People love this world and its wicked ways because the ways of this world are comfortable and appeal to our sinful nature. But we who are in Christ cannot allow discouragement to fill our hearts. We must abide in Him daily and fix our mind and our hearts upon Jesus.
Through Christ our sin no longer remains and we are able to go with confidence before the throne of our Father in Heaven. Daily we must be in prayer and in the study of God’s word. It is so important for us to meditate upon God’s word and give the study of His word the priority it deserves. We must guard our hearts from becoming distracted by this world and its ways. The Lord is coming soon and He is daily preparing His bride for His return. May we seek Him with our whole heart and simply focus our hearts and minds upon Him alone.
