When the Lamb broke the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.
3 Another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a golden censer; and much incense was given to him, so that he might [a]add it to the prayers of all the [b]saints on the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, [c]with the prayers of the [d]saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand.5 Then the angel [e]took the censer and filled it with the fire of the altar, and threw it to the earth; and there followed peals of thunder and sounds and flashes of lightning and an earthquake. Revelation 8:1-5 NASB
When the seventh seal is broken by Jesus Christ it ushers in the seven trumpet judgments which are the next seven set of judgments listed in the book of Revelation. There are twenty-one judgments listed in the book of Revelation: seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven bowls. All of these judgments will be poured out during the seven year tribulation when the bride of Christ has been removed from the earth.
What is incredible about this passage is how the prayers of the saints impact what takes place upon the earth. Often times we fail to understand how powerful our prayers actually are. When we are covered by the blood of Jesus and are sons and daughters of God our prayers carry incredible authority because they carry the authority of Jesus. The authority we have is not our own but has been given to us by Jesus Christ.
Jesus demonstrated His authority on the cross when He died and rose again and overcame sin and death. Because of Jesus every person who places their faith and trust in Jesus becomes a child of God. Because of this we have authority and that authority has been given to us by Jesus Himself.
We are simply called to follow the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who will lead us in the place of prayer and the only way we grow in prayer is by simply praying. When we begin to dedicate our lives to the place of prayer the Lord begins to reveal to our hearts different areas He has called us to pray into.
God uses us upon this earth to accomplish His plans and purposes through. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit and the Lord uses our mouths to declare His will in the place of prayer. Though the world around us continues to grow darker and more wicked by the day, the Lord desires to still move greatly in our midst and is seeking those who would be faithful in the place of prayer.
Instead of focusing on what the enemy is doing and complaining about it, we need to focus our hearts and eyes upon Jesus and pray forth and intercede into the areas the Lord is calling us to pray into. Each and everyone of us has a specific prayer assignment based upon the calling and anointing on our lives. As the bride and body of Christ we are God’s family and His team. Each of us has a job and a role to play. Let us be faithful in this hour as we continue to move closer each day to the return of Jesus for His bride and the last trumpet call.
