But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me[a] in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”  Acts 1:8

This promise stands for every believer in the body of Christ throughout the church age.  It is the Holy Spirit who empowers us to be a witness for God’s kingdom.  We must open our hearts wide to all that the Holy Spirit has for us and desire the greater gifts of the Holy Spirit.

If you have never received the baptism of the Holy Spirit it simply happens by opening your heart and asking Jesus to baptize you in the Holy Spirit.  It is received by faith and when we ask the Lord it opens the door for our lives to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

The Lord’s desire is to not only fill us one time.  But to fill us daily with the power and might of the Holy Spirit to be witnesses to the utter end of the earth.  As the world is filled with darkness the Lord has not called us to hide and run from the wickedness of this world.  He has called us to shine as a bright light in a very dark hour.

There is a mighty harvest before us and the only way we will see the harvest come forth is through the power of the Holy Spirit.  The power of the Holy Spirit did not end with the first century church.  The power of the Holy Spirit is available to all who are hungry and desire to impact this world for the greatness of God’s kingdom and the name of Jesus.

God is looking to raise a mighty army in this last hour and to empower that army with the Holy Spirit.  May we simply humble ourselves before the Lord and be willing to do all that God has called us to do.  It will not be accomplished in our own strength or power but simply by the power and might of the Holy Spirit.
