17 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. 18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. Philippians 3:17-21
We live in a world that is filled with two groups of people. There are those who are lost and who seek after the desires and deceptions of Satan. They don’t know they are lost but they truly believe they can fulfill the desires of their souls with the desires of this world. In the end it simply leads to destruction.
On the other hand there is a group of people who have given their hearts and lives of Jesus Christ. They are pursuing God and His kingdom and they are being transformed on a daily basis by the power and might of the Holy Spirit. We who are in Christ are called to be witnesses on this earth to those who are lost through the power and might of the Holy Spirit.
We must always remember that our citizenship is in Heaven. Our home is not this world and in this world we will have trial and we will have tribulation. We will have pain and we will have heart ache. But through it all the Lord’s grace is sufficient and His strength made perfect in our weakness. May we daily pursue Jesus with our whole heart. May our eyes be focused upon Christ alone. In the midst of pain and suffering may we draw near to the Lord with our whole heart.
