As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. 2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. 4 We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5
The apostle Paul understood the importance of prayer and the power of prayer. He continually asked those he wrote letters to to pray for him and he stated that he continually prayed for those in the body of Christ. There are things that take place when we pray that we will not fully understand while we are on this earth. But the Lord has commanded us to pray and because He has commanded us to pray, we should be obedient and do so.
Maybe you struggle in the place of prayer or don’t know how to pray. Maybe you desire to develop a deep prayer life but don’t know exactly where to start. We like the disciples should simply ask the Lord to teach us to pray. The Lord has told us in His word that if we lack wisdom in any area to simply ask Him. The Holy Spirit is our helper and our guide. He leads and guides us into all truth. He will lead and guide us into a deep and abiding prayer life that can be used to shape and change the course of history.
It is very easy in the world today to allow the busyness of life and the distraction of this world to keep us from the place of prayer. But if we make developing a deep and intimate prayer time the priority then the Lord will supernaturally order our lives and lead us to a deep place of prayer. There is incredible power that is released when God’s sons and daughters are simply are faithful in the place of prayer. Never believe that you or your prayers are insignificant. We must battle through discouragement and unbelief and simply continue in the place of prayer.
