This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.  John 1:6-9

John the Baptist had the awesome calling and anointing to prepare the way for Jesus Christ.  Jesus is the light of the world and all who place their faith and trust in Him are set free from the curse of sin and death.  It is the curse of sin and death that blinds the hearts of those who are lost.

John was not the light but came as one testifying to the light.  The thing that often blows my mind is that the religious leaders of Jesus day were so blind.  They had the Son of God before them and all Jesus every did was do all things in love and move in the power of the Holy Spirit.  The people had never seen anyone like Him before.  But because of their pride and their sin their minds and hearts were blinded to the truth.

As we examine our day we see that same issue exist today.  So many reject the gospel and reject Jesus Christ because of the pride and sin that exist in their hearts.  People reject the existence of God because they don’t want to be accountable for the lives that they live.  But they fail to understand that all will stand before Jesus Christ.

The only thing that saves us is the blood of Jesus.  It is through faith alone that we come to salvation and are born again.  It is the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit that transforms our lives and sets us free.  May we understand the nearness of His return.  May we examine the signs that we see around us and prepare our hearts daily for His return.

He said that it would be like the days of Noah at His soon return.  As we examine the world around us we see a world that is filled with wickedness, violence, and immorality.  A world that rejects everything that is right and holy and embraces everything of wickedness and darkness.  Many will weep and mourn when the trumpet sounds, but let us be faithful to share the gospel until that time.  He is the light of the world and there is a mighty harvest before us.
