Loving me empowers you to obey my word

Jesus replied, “Loving me empowers you to obey my word. And my Father will love you so deeply that we will come to you and make you our dwelling place. But those who don’t love me will not obey my words. The Father did not send me to speak my own revelation, but the words of my Father. I am telling you this while I am still with you. But when the Father sends the Spirit of Holiness, the One like me who sets you free, he will teach you all things in my name. And he will inspire you to remember every word that I’ve told you.

John 14:23-26

Loving Jesus requires action. To claim that we love Jesus but not walk according to the word of God is simply lip service. Nothing is hidden from the Lord. He knows every motive of our heart. But when we truly love Jesus we will be in fellowship with Him and the Father.

It is our sin that separates us from God. But through the blood of Jesus we are set free. His blood enables us to draw near without fear. Sin causes fear in our lives when we draw near to God. But once that sin is removed, fear no longer remains.

But those who fail to live according to God’s word don’t truly love God. They simply chase after the selfish sinful desires within themselves. It is only when we truly love Jesus that we can be free and truly walk in obedience.

When Jesus came and spoke, He only spoke what the Father told Him to speak. It was the Holy Spirit who reveal the truth to the disciples and enabled them to remember the words of Jesus.

The Holy Spirit is the game changer. He is the one who empowers us and enables us to live for God. He is the third person of the God head and without Him this Christian journey is impossible.

We should desire all that He has for us. That our lives be filled and we would be vessels of His glory. As followers of Jesus we have been chosen. It is not by accident we are born again. May we use the time we have on this earth to glorify and honor Jesus.
