There is no fear in love

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.  1 John 4:18

In Christ we have nothing to fear.  Those who fear fear punishment.  In Christ we are covered by the love, grace, and mercy of God.  In Christ we are a new creation and every day is a new day with Jesus.  No matter what has taken place the day before we know that God is faithful and just to forgive us if we ask Him to forgive us.

One of the great schemes and weapons of the enemy is fear.  Satan will always try to overwhelm us with fear to paralyze us.  The fear the enemy uses as a weapon is tangible and came seem overwhelming if we have not properly prepared ourselves in the place of prayer and the study of God’s word.

Jesus understands our every weakness and understands the importance of us abiding daily in Him.  The Israelites in the wilderness were commanded to get fresh manna every day.  They were commanded not to live on the manna of yesterday, but to gather fresh manna for the day ahead.  This spiritual principle stands for us today.  We are called to obtain fresh manna found in prayer and daily bible study.

The Lord has equipped us for all things but how many simply fail to use the weapons and tools God has given them.  We must be disciplined in our walk with the Lord.  Abiding in Him and spending time in His presence must become the priority of our lives.  Today if you find yourself battling fear I encourage you to seek the Lord and ask Him for strength and to fill you with the power of the Holy Spirit.  We have not because we ask not.

We know love by this

We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

1 John 3:16 NASB

Jesus demonstrated and personified what true love is.  He gave up everything to come to this earth as a humble servant, be rejected, and take the punishment and wrath we deserved.  Because all of us are born into sin we have no way to deal with the sin that is in our lives on our own.  No matter how many good things we try to do it will never atone for the sin that is upon our lives.  It is only through the precious blood of Jesus that we can be forgiven and declared righteous before God.

Under the Old Covenant the nation of Israel had animal sacrifices because it required the shedding of blood to atone for sin.  The reason this is is because the life of an individual is found in the blood.  But the sacrifices of animals only covered sin temporarily and need to be done over and over again.

But the sacrifice that Jesus gave us dealt with sin once and for all.  Every person who receive Jesus as Lord and Savior is a brand new creation.  The old has been nailed to the cross.  We have died with Him and we have risen with Him.  We have brand new life because Jesus has over come the grave.  Let us draw near this day and abide daily in Him.  May we be found faithful in the place of prayer and diligently study God’s word.  He is coming soon and those who abide daily in Him will be prepared when the trumpet is sound.
