Love your neighbor as yourself

The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Romans 13:9-10 NIV

When we are driven by love we will reflect the character of Christ.  Under the Old Covenant the nation of Israel was given the law.  The law of God was extensive and it revealed the righteousness of God and man’s need of a savior.  The law was never meant to lead us to righteousness, but reveal to humanity its need of a savior.

Humanity is broken and every person born on the earth is born into sin.  The human heart is inherently wicked.  This is a reality on a daily basis as we see wickedness raging upon the earth.  Many on a daily basis are giving their hearts over to wickedness and are justifying their actions.  There are many who want nothing to do with God and refuse to admit that He even exist.  But the truth is that when light is rejected the only thing you are left with is darkness.

We live in dark times, but as believers in Jesus Christ we are called to be a shining light.  The greatest way that we can be a light in these very dark times is to reflect the love of Jesus Christ.  When we are driven by the love of God it will enable us to do extraordinary things.  It will enable us to life up those in prayer who desire to destroy us and drive us to spread and share the gospel with all those we come into contact with.
